How Covid-19 affected procedures at airports

Covid-19 made a huge and strong change in all our lives, not only during its spread but also after vaccination procedures. While the aviation is gradually returned to work which all travelers are waiting for after the pandemic. Many experts expect that many things will not return to their old manner. Several things changed to avoid pandemic spread between travelers and staff, as employees, TSA lines, kids’ areas, and reusable items. The most notable and important change is that we will not see bare faces without masks anymore.

Kids areas

Kids’ areas in airports help a lot of parents travelers to feel safer in wandering in the airport. But, these places are very difficult to keep clean all the time as it is used by thousands of children, so it is considered to be a perfect environment to increase bacteria and pandemic. Many airports expected to close their kids’ areas to avoid pandemic spread.

Employees

Many airports reduced their employees for decreasing the humane contact including baggage, security, and boarding. All of these steps will be taken in another way by passengers for the purpose of decreasing contact with each other. Online check-in will be normal, also all passengers will check their ticket, and flight details themselves.

Security Bins

These bins help in gathering passengers’ items that pass through the scanner, but they are a hotbed for germs. According to a study announced in 2018 in BMC Infectious Diseases plastic trays are the convenient items in transmitting germs at airports. So putting items on a conveyer belt isn’t a perfect solution! but, it’s the best thing to avoid touching these bins from hand to hand without cleaning. So some airports will not use it anymore.

Crowded lounges

It’s expected that airports redesign their lounges for each flight to give more space to avoid congestion in lounges. To achieve this, the airports are expected to widen and increase their lounges to two or three lounges as standard.

Reusable Cutlery

Using single-use plastic items prevents the widespread pandemic in airports. So you can notice how many airports stop using reusable items between passengers and staff to avoid the pandemic and bacteria spread.

TSA crowded lines

Despite the restrictions which the pandemic enforced, the most positive thing passengers of course like is the organized TSA lines. This helps so much in reducing crowded lines with the spreading of precaution signs to avoid crowd, and make TSA steps faster and easier.
