Dubai Air Show 2019

November 2019: The Dubai airshow (DAS) ended last Thursday being a huge win for Airbus over Boeing over new orders and deliveries. In this article, you’ll find a complete list of all aircraft orders at DAS as well as some analysis and aircraft displays.

Let’s start with the Airbus line up on display at the airshow:

•Emirates A380-800.
•Emirates A319-115 (private).
•Fiji Airways A350-900.
•Citadel Completions A340-500.
•Egypt Air A330 (Cargo variant).
•Egypt Air A220-300.
In Airbus liveries:
•A330 Neo.
•Airbus A400M (Military aircraft).
•A320 Neo.

For The Boeing line up :

•Emirates B777-300ULR.
•Etihad Airways B787-9 •Dreamliner (Manchester city livery).
•Saudia B787-10 Dreamliner.
In Boeing livery: B787-9 (Dreams take flight livery).

It has been evident from the Paris and Dubai airshows earlier this year that Boeing are facing setbacks on both displays and orders for their aircraft, but that did not stop them from obtaining some orders at DAS.

Here’s a list of all orderd aircraft at DAS:

The largest one by far is the 120 A320 neo family made by UAE’s Air Arabia consisting of:

  • 73 A320neos, cabable to carry 194 passengers.
  • 27 A321neos, cabable to carry 244 passengers.
  • 20 A321XLRs, the latest version of the A321, seating 244 as well but with greater range.

The second-largest order was by UAE’s biggest airline Emirates where they canceled their previous order for the A330 neo and replaced it with an order for 20 further A350-900, making their total order for the type 50 aircraft. Emirates also opted to convert 30 777X aircraft into 30 787-9s.

Boeing was really pushing their flagship 787 through the air show, further orders included:
•3 787-9 for Ghana’s government.
•2 787-9 for Egypt Air.
•2 787-9 for Bamin Bangladesh.

And surprisingly Boeing recived an order for the grounded 737-MAX type for 40 aircraft:

•30 for Air Astana.
•10 for Sun Express.

Further orders for Airbus included:

•10 A321-XLRs for Flynas.
•8 A220-300 for Air Senegal.
•20 A321-XLR for GECAS.
•12 A330-900 for GECAS.

Bombardier orders:
•20 dash 8-400 for Palma.
•6 dash 8-400 for Ghana’s government.
•3 dash 8-400 for Elin group.

Embraer orders:
•3 E195-E2 for Air peace.

This marks the order coverage for the DAS being of the value of almost $50 billion worth of planes-just sold at the Dubai Airshow as the world’s largest aircraft makers gathered in the desert for five days.
