Sully began to think about his choices and realized that it isn’t possible to return to LaGuardia anymore. A few seconds later, he got a response: „Cactus 1549, turn right two eight zero. You can land Runway 1 at Teterboro.”, but also this wasn’t possible. During the incidents of the film, we can see how he is trying to save the passengers’ lives in a very wise and courageous manner.

One of the unforgotten films, not only because of the creative act of Denzel Washington but also the existence of this character everywhere, the alcoholic and drug-addicted. The most attractive things in this film are that we don’t see an addicted gangster or one of an addicted family, instead we see a well-educated and smart man, who gets high qualifications and his job entrusted him on people’s lives. In the first scene, we see William “Whip” Whitaker hardly waking up in a hotel room after a dead drunk night to aviate from Orlando to Atlanta, before going out of his room he sniffed out cocaine to wake. Captain Whitaker took off with a plane model JR 88 which is an innovative model for the film, the plane faced a terrifying bumpiness but Whitaker crosses it. Then he gives the pilotage to his assistance and slips away to drink alcohol and sleep instead of preparing food. The plane gets a mechanical failure and starts to fall. During this incident, we see his perfectness as a pilot and great efforts to save the passengers’ lives.

The film was directed by Robert Zemeckis, written by John Gatins and produced by Denzel Washington, Walter F. Parkes, Laurie MacDonald, Steve Starkey, Zemeckis, and Jack Rapke. The film appeared on multiple critics’ year-end top ten lists and received multiple accolades and nominations from various organizations, including two nominations for Best Actor (Washington) and Best Original Screenplay (Gatins) at the 85th Academy Awards.
