Before inventing planes, people could only travel by foot, buggy, horses, and train or ship. Travel was taking a very long time, about weeks or months. The same in delivering and receiving goods. The invention of airplanes changed the world from different sides. Aviation support 87.7 million jobs around the world. These jobs include:

11.3 million direct jobs

• 648,000 – airport operation
• 5.5 million – retail, rental cars, transporting, catering, immigrations, and customs
• 3.6 million – flight staff like cabin crew, executive, ground services, check-in training, and maintenance staff.)
• 1.3 million – civil services like designers and engineers of aircraft, engines, and components
• 237.000 – air navigation

These jobs are four times more productive than average jobs in the economy.

These include IT and accountancy, goods that are sold in airports, constructions, and fuel.

Aviation has a great influence on international economic and trade development. Forecasts expect that the rise of the economic world will be widely dependent on international trade. World trade is expected to almost double, rising at more than twice the rate of global GDP, with China, India, and other emerging markets leading the way. By the compare of all the ways of transports, air transport is the fastest and reliable mode of transport. At the same time for the high cost of air transportation, air freight is mostly used to transport light, perishable, compact, and high-value items. According to estimation $6.5 trillion in cargo value was sent by air in 2019. Also, many pharmaceutical items are being sent by air transport due to its sensitivity in keeping, e.g. vaccines.

Aviation and Tourism

Aviation and tourism are depending on each other in sustainable growth. On the social side travel and tourism is the best chance for the exchanging of cultures and traditions between the original people of countries and the visitors from everywhere. Tourism contributes in every wide way to the global economy. According to the travel and tourism council, it’s expected in 2029 that tourism will contribute by 421 million jobs globally. Tourism has a wide role in employment globally:

• Direct: 19.6 million jobs are supported by the foreign visitors using aviation during travel (includes jobs in industries such as hotels, restaurants, local transport, and rental car)
• Indirect: 16.4 million additional jobs in the tourism industry are supported by the foreign visitors arriving by air

Handling Disasters

Air services play an essential role in helping people in crisis time such as famine, and wars. It can be used while the other ways of transport are obstructed, have poor roads, natural disasters, or ongoing conflict. Food or medical supplies can be transported by air. Commercial air also is helpful in a large way. Airports became shelters, source of supplies, cargo deliveries and refuges, and assistant to the governments in crisis.
