British Airways is the national airline of the United Kingdom. It was established on April 1, 1974.
Its headquarters are located near Heathrow Airport in London, England, which serves as its primary hub.
The airline is the second-largest in the United Kingdom in terms of fleet size and passenger handled.

Facts about the airline:

1. Oneworld, an airline alliance, counts British Airways as a founding member and one of its founders.
2. British Airways is the world’s largest Boeing 747-400 operator.
3. British Airways and Qatar Airways have announced a cooperative business partnership, according to the International Airlines Group (IAG).
4. The supersonic airliner Aerospatiale-BAC Concorde was operated by British Airways and Air France, and the world’s first supersonic passenger service flew from London Heathrow to Bahrain in January 1976.
5. Each year, the airline serves over 25 million cups of tea.
6. They’ve reduced the amount of legroom available compared to other airlines. This is being done in order to free up some space for more seats.

11. They are the first airline in the world to provide lie-flat beds in first class. British Airways has offered completely reclinable lie-flat beds in first-class since 1996, ensuring maximum comfort for travelers.

13. i360 by British Airways The world’s tallest moving observation tower.
    The British Airways i360 is a 162-meter (531-foot) observation tower on Brighton’s beachfront, at the landward end of the former West Pier. Guinness World Records has named it the world’s slenderest tower, with a height-to-width ratio of more than 40-1.

• The airline’s current logo was developed by the Newell & Sorrel studio in 1997.
• The ribbon was given the term “Speedmark” and is displayed on all of the company’s planes as a symbol of speed, power, and safety.
• The blue wordmark is set in all caps in an exquisite and sophisticated typeface with fine and delicate hard edges and clean, precise letter outlines, similar to Majesty Medium font.

Some Historical Facts about British airways:

1. The British Airways Board was founded in 1974 by the British government to handle the two nationalized airline companies, British Overseas Airways Corporation and British European Airways, as well as the other two regional carriers, Cambrian Airways, and Northeast Airlines. On March 31, 1974, the four companies merged to form British Airways

• British Airways and Iberia, another flag carrier airline in the Oneworld alliance, announced a merger plan in July 2008, in which each airline would keep its original brand.
• It was the official airline partner of the London 2012 Olympic Games
•  On May 27, 2017, British Airways experienced a computer power outage. All flights were canceled, affecting thousands of travelers.
• The airline announced intentions to lay off up to 12,000 employees as a result of the global collapse of air traffic caused by the COVID-19 pandemic on April 28, 2020.
• British Airways said in July 2020 that it would retire its entire 747-400 fleet immediately, after originally planning to phase out the last 747s in 2024.
