Additionally, the airline is responding to the growing demand on the Mumbai to Phuket route by ramping up its services from January 6, 2024. The frequency will now be elevated to 13 flights per week, showcasing IndiGo’s dedication to meeting the increasing travel needs on this popular route. The current daily flights operated by A321neos will see a significant boost, accommodating the surge in passenger demand.
IndiGo’s Thailand Network:
With these recent enhancements, IndiGo anticipates operating a total of 56 flights to Thailand every week. This includes existing routes to Bangkok from most of IndiGo’s bases in India. In 2023, the airline operated an average of six flights per day within the same network, with 68% of these flights heading to Bangkok, according to AirlineData.
Vinay Malhotra, 6E’s Head of Global Sales, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded services, stating, “We are delighted to introduce new flights connecting India to Thailand, reaffirming our commitment to expanding global connectivity from India. Thailand has always been a sought-after destination, known for its tropical beaches, shopping, entertainment, and ornate temples.“
He added, “IndiGo remains dedicated to providing affordable, punctual, courteous, and hassle-free travel experiences across our extensive network for our valued customers.”
Thailand Weekly Flight Total:
With these new additions, IndiGo is set to operate an impressive total of 56 weekly flights to Thailand from five airports in India. This comprehensive network includes flights to Bangkok from multiple bases, solidifying IndiGo’s position as a key player connecting India to Southeast Asia.
Strategic Expansion and Global Reach:
These recent modifications in IndiGo’s network represent the airline’s latest step in its overarching plan to expand internationally. After establishing a dominant position in the Indian domestic market, IndiGo is now venturing into new routes to foreign countries and reaching even further regions through strategic codeshare agreements. The most recent of these partnerships was with British Airways earlier this year, showcasing IndiGo’s commitment to enhancing its global presence.
IndiGo’s announcement of the Bengaluru to Phuket route and increased Mumbai frequencies reflects the airline’s proactive approach to meeting evolving travel demands. As it continues to extend its reach internationally, IndiGo remains focused on delivering accessible, punctual, and customer-centric travel experiences, further solidifying its status as a key player in the global aviation landscape.
