Azimut Airlines Plane Engine Catches Fire Upon Landing in Antalya

Azimut Airlines caught fire upon landing at Antalya Airport in Turkey. The Azimut Airlines flight had departed from Sochi at 19:42 MSK. As the Sukhoi SuperJet 100-95LR (registration RA-89085) landed, one of its engines ignited. All 79 passengers were safely evacuated using emergency slides.

Development and Operations

The SSJ100 program was initiated to modernize Russia’s regional aviation market. The aircraft completed its maiden flight in 2008, received Russian certification in 2009, and entered commercial service in 2011.
