Qatar Airways has released a new in-flight safety video starring its Global Brand Ambassador, Hollywood actor and comedian Kevin Hart.
The video, set to debut in December 2024, promises to bring entertainment and engagement to an often-overlooked aspect of air travel.
Dubbed “A Safety Video Coming From the Hart”, the seven-minute film is directed by renowned American filmmaker Tim Story. Qatar Airways blends humor and charm into this production, capturing passengers’ attention while ensuring they absorb critical safety procedures.
A Cast of Notable Figures
In addition to Kevin Hart, the video features cameo appearances from a host of well-known personalities. English model and actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Senegalese-Italian social media sensation Khaby Lame lend their talents to support Hart in playful demonstrations, such as assisting with stowing baggage in overhead compartments.
The backdrop for the safety demonstrations is as captivating as the cast. Passengers are treated to stunning views of Qatar Airways’ iconic destinations, including Paris, Sydney, New York, and Nairobi. These scenic landscapes not only showcase the airline’s global reach but also keep viewers engaged throughout the film.
A Fresh Approach to Passenger Safety
Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Group Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways, explained the rationale behind this unique project:
“At Qatar Airways, the safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority. Our main ambition for this project was to design an in-flight safety video that passengers will not want to miss.”
Al-Meer emphasized the growing challenge of capturing passengers’ attention in the digital age, where in-flight entertainment options often distract from traditional safety demonstrations:
“As we continue to become more technologically advanced, we are seeing more and more passengers not paying enough attention to the in-flight safety video, instead opting for entertainment content on their other devices,”
To address this, Qatar Airways chose to work with high-profile celebrities and influencers, ensuring their safety video would stand out. “We decided there was no better way to capture their attention than with their favorite celebrities and content creators. Shining a spotlight and amplifying this message, we are proud to welcome Kevin Hart, our latest Global Brand Ambassador, to help spread the word.”
Kevin Hart’s Take on the Project
Kevin Hart expressed his excitement about collaborating with Qatar Airways on this innovative project. “The safety video is unlike anything you have seen on a luxury airline,” Hart remarked.
“I have loved partnering with Qatar Airways to produce a video that passengers will not only pay attention to but remember for a long time coming, or at least until their next flight, Qatar Airways represents best-in-class service and attention to detail, and this video brings those elements to your seat-back screen. Now, sit back, relax, and enjoy the flight!”
