Philippine Airlines Reinforces Long-Haul Fleet with Airbus A350-1000

Philippine Airlines (PAL) has taken a major step forward. The carrier recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus. This agreement covers the purchase of nine A350-1000s. Philippine Airlines Airbus A350-1000 is a part of PAL’s Ultra Long Haul Fleet project.

The A350-1000 is central to PAL’s plans. This aircraft will expand non-stop services from Manila to various North American destinations. These include the East Coast of the U.S. and Canada.

These aircraft will join PAL’s two A350-900s already in service. They fly across North America, Asia, and Australia. As with the A350-900, the A350-1000s will have a premium layout. It will feature separate Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class cabins.

Transforming Transpacific and Transpolar Routes

Captain Stanley K. Ng, President and COO of Philippine Airlines, is optimistic. He believes that the A350-1000’s range will enable PAL to fly non-stop transpacific and transpolar routes all year.

These services will include some of the world’s longest commercial flights. Examples of these are the routes connecting the Philippines with New York and Toronto. With the expansion of the A350 fleet, PAL aims to reestablish a direct link from the Philippines to Europe.
