Amsterdam Schiphol Airport was struck by a horrific accident today when a person was killed after being sucked into a running aircraft engine. The incident, which is under investigation by the Royal Military Police, occurred shortly before 3:00 PM local time.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, is reported to have “fallen” into the engine of a KLM Embraer 190 jet (flight KL 1341) which was preparing to take off for Billund, Denmark. The aircraft, with a pushback time of 2:25 PM, is a 14-year-old regional jet registered as PH-EZL.

Schiphol Airport expressed their condolences on social media, stating,
“Today there was a horrible incident where a person ended up in an airplane engine. Our thoughts go out to the relatives and we are caring for the passengers and colleagues who witnessed this. The Royal Military Police is currently conducting an investigation.”
Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, with reports describing a “massive” response. The Royal Military Police confirmed in a statement that the incident occurred on the Schiphol platform and resulted in the death of the individual.
Thankfully, all passengers and crew disembarked safely and are being cared for by KLM. This indicates that the fatality did not involve anyone onboard the aircraft.
The cause of the incident remains unclear at this time. Authorities are conducting a full investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
