Boeing and SCAT Airlines, based in Şhymkent, Kazakhstan, announced a new order for seven 737-8 airplanes at the Dubai Airshow. This latest addition is set to nearly double SCAT’s 737 MAX fleet, reflecting the airline’s strategic focus on expansion and modernization. The decision to increase the 737 fleet underlines SCAT Airlines’ commitment to enhancing its service offerings and operational efficiency as it eyes new routes, particularly to European destinations.
Vladimir Denissov, president of JSC SCAT Airlines, emphasized the importance of this order for the airline, which is currently the most dynamically developing carrier in Kazakhstan and boasts the largest aircraft fleet in the country. Denissov highlighted that the addition of these new Boeing 737-8s will not only boost the airline’s carrying capacity but also improve the punctuality of flight schedules. This expansion will enable SCAT Airlines to broaden its route network and offer passengers an increased variety of travel destinations.

Boeing and SCAT airlines
The recent order from SCAT Airlines was previously unidentified on the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website and represents a significant vote of confidence in the Boeing 737 MAX family. Brad McMullen, Boeing’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing, expressed his views on the deal, noting it as a testament to SCAT’s trust in the performance and reliability of the 737 MAX series. McMullen also reiterated Boeing’s commitment to supporting SCAT Airlines’ network expansion and playing a key role in their long-term success.
The 737 MAX family, known for its exceptional performance and lower operating costs, offers airlines the capability to profitably open up new destinations in the single-aisle market. The 737-8, in particular, has been designed to carry up to 210 passengers, depending on its configuration, and offers a range of up to 6,480 km (3,500 nautical miles). These features make it an ideal aircraft for SCAT Airlines as it looks to expand its service offerings and enter new markets.
